We all decided not to go anywhere today. We couldn’t pick up anything from the post office in Skagway so today was a day to do things like work on blogs, fix little things, and just sir around. I mostly sat around! The campground does have a pressure washer so I washed a ton of dust and dirt off Snowflake. The pressure washer takes Loonies. For those who haven’t been to Canada, the Canadians don’t have a one dollar bill. Instead they have a one dollar coin. The coins have a loon (you know, the bird) on them so they are called Loonies. They also have a two-dollar coin know as a Toonie named for two loonies. Anyway, the pressure washer took six Loonies to get Snowflake clean. Four were for water and soap and two for just rinse water.
We did go into town and I did take a few photos.
There is a narrow gauge railroad that runs from Skagway to Carcross and here it is waiting to return to Skagway.
This is the Carcross train station. Across from the train station is a store and that pretty much describes the whole town.
The area around Carcross is pretty. Here is a shot from the campground.
Just outside of town is what is described as the world’s smallest desert. There is about one square mile of sand dunes. It isn’t actually a desert as it is not dry enough to be a desert.
Anyway, that just about sums up Carcross.
