This morning I tried to add water to the fresh water tank and it was slow to fill. After waiting for about half an hour, I decided to see what the problem was. After Ketchikan I had replaced one of the water filters. It turns out that I should have replaced both filters. One was so blocked up that almost nothing was getting through. Changing that filter got everything working again. While I was outside working on it one of the neighbors came by and asked me if I wanted to try some white king salmon. He had a small bowl with fried pieces of fish about the size of a ping pong ball. I ate one and told him that it tasted like halibut to me. He just grinned and I think he thought he could pull a fast one. He is the same guy who warned us that we should be sure to use a pressure regulator as the campground water pressure exceeded 100 psi. I put ours in the water line and the pressure was between 20 and 40 psi. Good water pressure runs more like 65-70 psi. Later he came by and offered a fresh boiled shrimp from a bowl. The fresh shrimp taste mush better than the frozen and this time they were fresh shrimp. We went into town as we wanted to try Beer Bites for lunch. These are pieces of halibut that are fried in beer batter. These are what the neighbor tried to pass off as white king salmon. Just for the record, there is no such thing as white king salmon. We ordered the Beer Bites and almost couldn’t finish it as we were both full long before we ate it all. It was very tasty. After lunch we wandered around town for a while and then went to the library for the Wifi. Finishing that we headed for the post office to send some mail. We had never driven up the street where the post office was located and we found a new, modern grocery store. Prior to that the only grocery we had seen in town was pretty dismal. We picked up a few things that we needed. When we returned to the trailer, I told Leslie I had no interest in dinner as I was still full from lunch. My lunch was actually mine plus the rest of Leslie’s when she got full.
