Robert - We set out to go further north today. Our destination for today was Williams Lake, BC. For most places on this trip we don’t have campground reservations as we are ahead of most who are going to Alaska this summer. The drive was easy and we arrived at the campground that Leslie had selected from one of the travel books. There was no one at the entrance but there was a sign that said, “Warning, Boil all water before drinking.” Maybe it is just me but that is a big turn-off. There is no way that I am willing to connect the water system in the trailer to that and contaminate it. For the second time in all of our travels we did a drive-in and drive-out. In town there is a campground that the book said would open on May 15 but we went there just to see. Leslie called and got a voice mail that sounded like they might be open. The campground was located on the grounds of “The Famous Williams Lake Stampede.” For those who aren’t up on the matter, a stampede is that same as a rodeo.
The campground was brand new. It was so brand new that they were working on the sites as we arrived. Someone stopped us as we were entering and he told us to ask the workmen to point out sites they had finished that we could use. We got two sites but decided this would be an over-night stop. We use two water filters on all of the water that comes into the rig. One is a sediment filter and the second is a charcoal filter to remove bad taste. When we set up I realized I had left the filters in the last campground. I turn then upside down for the water to drain and I had overlooked them when we packed up. We called the campground and made arrangements for them to be shipped to us at our next stop. Rather than cooking dinner we decided to find a restaurant in town. We drove around and rejected all the usual suspects but finally decided to try the only place we could find that looked OK. As it turns out, it was good and everyone enjoyed their selection. After dinner, Leslie decided we should all go bowling so we did; in our trailer with the Wii. After that it was time to crash.
