Prince George, BC

Leslie – Thursday, May 13, 2010

Tuesday night we made a quick one night stop at Williams Lake, BC.  The first campground we approached had a “boil all water” notice posted at the entrance so we continued into town.  We ended up at the Williams Lake fairgrounds, “Home of the Famous Williams Lake Stampede”.

The campground wasn’t really ready for business.  They were still moving dirt as they developed new sites.  It appeared that they were completely rebuilding the campground and added full hook-ups to each site.  While it lacked any ambiance, it worked fine for the night.

Wednesday we continued on to Prince George, BC where Mr. PG welcomed us.

We’re staying at the same RV park we visited in 2008.  Prince George is a large town and an excellent resupply point for travelers heading north.  We hit the Costco and Canada Super Store and have now stowed groceries in every cubby.

Our major  accomplishment for the day was a visit to the local Visitor’s Center where we got a preview of the chainsaw sculptures that we’ll see in the next town.  We were impressed with the carving skill demonstrated in creating these fish.

The hawker for a local tattoo shop showed some creativity as well.
