Chetwynd, British Columbia bills itself as the chainsaw carving capital of the world. Over a four day period each June master chainsaw carvers from all over the world compete to create elaborate sculptures. The town supplies the wood, usually cedar from Vancouver. Within 30 hours the carvers create the intricately detailed massive structures. Currently eighty-two entries are displayed throughout the town. I’ve inserted some of my favorites.
A Cowboy’s Story.
Beaver. Dragon.
A Coal Miner’s Lunch Wagon.
On Eagles’ Wings.
Dinner for Two.
Life is Short, Very Hard. Forbidden Fruit.
Pathway to the North.
Climbing Lesson. Lumberjack.
Moose. Golfer Stuck in the Sand.
Wrangler’s Rest.
After walking through Chetwynd, we continued to Dawson Creek, the beginning of the Alaska Highway.
