Well it turns out that problem with the internet wasn’t caused (at least directly) by the caravan horde that arrived yesterday and departed this morning. I finally walked over to the campground office and asked if the internet connection was working. The manager looked at it and said something like, “Well, the lights aren’t flashing.” He reset it and suddenly we had internet connection again.
I saw some of the caravan pull out this morning as I was up to call the RV repair place to see if they could look at Snowflake. After checking it out, it seems the problem isn’t with Snowflake after all. The connection to the trailer is the normal round plug. Most tow vehicles have 12 volt power being supplied to the trailer. On Snowflake, there is a switch to turn it on and off. Normally we tow with it off and everything works fine. Now it has to be on for the trailer brakes to work. Somehow the trailer batteries are not providing power to the trailer brakes. I made an appointment to get this fixed along with a few other items when we get back to the lower 48. At least now we have trailer brakes.
Stan noticed his truck was once again giving him a check engine light. He set out for the Chevrolet dealer to get this fixed. Pretty soon he called and said he needed a ride back home as it was going to be at least until the afternoon before they could look at it. After lunch we all set off for the town museum and visitor’s center. It is all located in the old train depot. Part of the space is a restored train station and part of it is a museum mostly about the Alaska Highway. We watched an interesting film about the construction of the highway. After that we drove to the Chevrolet dealer to check on the truck. They don’t know why it keeps giving the error code and wanted to keep the truck overnight. We hit the local Wal-Mart and then headed back home.
I hope I am not jinxing the weather with saying this but the weather has been delightful. Today it was actually warm and bordering on hot. It was too hot to eat inside so we ate dinner outside.
