House Cleaning Day

Robert, Sunday, September 14

Today we cleaned house, at least inside. It is amazing just how dirty it can get inside an RV. Although it is sealed pretty tight, there is always some little crack where dust can get in. When you are driving on some of the roads we have been driving, there is plenty of dust. Then dirt gets tracked in as often the campground has crushed rock and sand that enters every time you go out and come back. The good news is that with two people working at it, everything can get cleaned. We started this trip with a small, electric broom. While it doesn’t take up too much space, it also doesn’t pick up too much dirt. Somewhere Leslie read about a small vacuum that cost $20 that is supposed to work well. While it beats the electric broom, it still doesn’t pick up everything. You can run it over a small piece of lint several times without any effect. Regardless, that is what we have so that is what we used. Surfaces were dusted, floors scrubbed, and carpets vacuumed. When we finished it looked so much better. The outside is still filthy. The nose cap has a million bugs on it and the sides are just dirty. After we got the inside cleaned, I grilled a split chicken for dinner.
