Dinner with New Friends

Robert, Sunday, August 3
Need I describe the weather again? We decided to spend one more day here so we won’t leave until Tuesday. We want to go to see a wildlife refuge where they have some hiking trails. We finally got going and went to Soldotna which is about 8 miles away. We wanted to see the town a little bit and we were meeting a couple for dinner. The couple, Fred and Jo, are full-timers who also have a blog. Leslie has been reading their blog and Jo has been reading ours. The two have also been exchanging emails. This is a good way to get first hand experience on campgrounds and things to see when one couple has been some place first. As they were camped in Soldotna, we met them for dinner. Two and a half years ago they sold or gave away almost everything, bought an RV, and hit the road. They had never camped (tent, pop-up, travel trailer, etc.) before just jumping in and doing it. They had been in Homer (the direction we are heading) and so gave us some tips about the local campgrounds. Homer is a very popular spot for RVers and at least one RV park charges $75 per night. As they say, "I don’t think so!" The place they stayed sounded fine and a lot less then $75 per night. After dinner we returned to the trailer and called it a night.
