Last night Leslie looked at some of the guides and thought we would go on a hike today. That was before we saw today’s weather. When we got up, it was overcast and looked like rain. Beside that it was chilly and windy. We decided that if we got more than ten minutes away from the shelter of the truck, it would rain. Hence we went to Plan B. That was to load the dirty clothes and computers into the truck and head for the laundromat. Actually it was head for the laundromat-Mexican restaurant-hair salon-showers-WiFi hotspot, a real all in one kind of place in the town of Girdwood. We had a little trouble finding the town as we had always assumed that the town consisted to a gas station and train station right along the highway. We then learned by reading one of the guides that the town had been right on the highway but they moved it after the big earthquake in 1964. Now the town was two miles up a side road from where it had been. The guide said the land where the town had been dropped six feet from the earthquake. As the old location was right next to Turnagain Arm, what had been dry ground was now marshy. Anyway, we found the town by driving up the side road. While the laundry was going on, we had internet connections. The laundry finished, we went exploring in the truck. While it wasn’t raining, it still looked like it could at any minute and it wasn’t any warmer outside. We drove to the local ski resort (Alyeska), just to see it. It looked ritzy and probably really cold during ski season. It wasn’t all that warm when we were there. We then headed back to the trailer. Dinner and campfire finished the day.

What did it cost to camp here per day? No water, no serer, no electrial?
The cost was $15 per night. There were no water, sewer, or electrical. They have a dump station that cost $5 to use. OTOH, it is very close to Anchorage and it is a very pretty campground.
The regular rate is $18 per day. Because we have the Golden Access Pass, it cost us $9.00 per day.
Oops! What Leslie said is right. I was thinking of Eagle River CG.
