Rain, Rain, and More Rain

Robert, Sunday, June 15

Rain this morning, rain this afternoon, rain this evening. I think being a weather forecaster here would be easy–tomorrow the forecast is for rain. The forecast could even be taped so you could go fishing (in the rain of course) and if anyone wanted to know the forecast they could just listen to the recording. Tomorrow we get on the ferry to Sitka. We get on the ferry around noon and the trip is 13 hours. Sitka is about 190 miles from here so maybe the weather there will be better. When we bought salmon the other day, the smallest filet they had was 3 pounds. We ate about one-third the first night. Last night Leslie ate a little that was left over but we still had two pounds. For lunch today we cooked the rest and ate some for lunch. Tonight we ate some more. If there is any left, we will carry it on the ferry in a cooler. We have a cabin so we can have something like a salmon salad for lunch. It is a little surprising that the food on the ferries is good but we have all of this fish to eat before it goes bad. We did go into town tonight to find Wifi and to go to the ferry dock. The ferries here are infrequent enough that the ferry office is only open when a ferry is due in. There was one tonight so we wanted to go ask them if the cabin we have reserved has things like sheets, etc. We hoped that the library kept their Wifi running when they are closed but no luck. We drove around town and finally found Wifi by parking across the street from a hotel. We also learned the ferry cabins do have sheets and towels so we don’t have to bring those along.
