Radium Hot Springs

Robert, Saturday, July 17
We got a late start this morning. The other day we were in a grocery store and they had fresh strawberries. The produce clerk was offering free samples and Leslie and I took a very large berry. It was as good as any we have ever had. Of course we bought a big box. Guess what we had for breakfast? If you guessed fresh strawberries you get a gold star. After strawberries, showers, left-overs for lunch we set out for town. It was so late we decided to see town today and visit the hot springs tomorrow. It turns out that "town" almost doesn’t exist. Two gas stations, a few restaurants, a grocery store, and that’s about it.
Our plans from here are to go back to Banff for two night, to Jasper for two nights, to Prince George for two nights, to somewhere between Prince George and Prince Rupert for one night, and then to Prince Rupert. At Prince Rupert is where we get on the ferry for the trip up the southeast coast of Alaska.
I previously said that I thought Victoria Day (the coming Monday) was to celebrate Canada’s independence. Well, it turns out that it celebrates Queen Victoria’s birthday and now is the day that any old queen’s birthday is celebrated. Whoopee do!
