Hopefully it doesn’t snow in late June but I thought it interesting to report on Valdez snow statistics and correct a statement I made a few days ago. Thompson Pass at 2073 ft. receives an average of 900 inches of snow a year. Valdez, at SEA LEVEL, receives an average of 300 inches of snow a year. That’s a lot of snow.
Look at the fire hydrant. It is raised 4 ft. to help keep it visible to fire responders.
As we left the museum annex another tourist told us that she had just taken a picture of a black bear in a carport nearby. We drove by but didn’t find the bear.
