Checking Out Dawson City

Robert - Thursday, June 3
Today we set out to walk around Dawson City and see the sights. It is a neat old town. Here is a shot of Front Street.

There is an interesting building right on Front Street.

We walked most of the streets. We also checked out the ferry that crosses the Yukon River. This is the beginning of the trip on the Top of the World road from Dawson City to Chicken. The ferry is free and seems to run regularity across the river. There are several signs with instructions and warnings.

Dawson City is far enough north that there is permafrost. Here is the result of building on permafrost and then heating the building. The permafrost melts and the builds starts to sink into the resulting mud.

We ate dinner at a Greek restaurant. The food was great. After dinner we went to the casino to see the 8:30 show. After that we quit for the day.
