Robert, Sunday, September 7
We are glad we saw Whitehorse yesterday as today it was rainy and cold. We spend most of the day in the trailer on the internet reading the news. However it was either go to the laundormat and do the laundry or start going through the pile looking for the cleanest-dirty-shirt. We chose the laundromat option. Before we set out, I filled both of the generators with gas so I could get the gas can filled. That way we can boondock and run the generators in case we can’t find a place to stay with power hook-ups. We got to the laundormat and loaded everything into washers. One of the reasons we prefer laundromats to having a washer/dryer in the rig is that when there are multiple machines, you can do all of the laundry at once. When you have a machine in the rig, it normally is too small to wash much more than one sheet at a time so doing laundry can take forever. Fortunately there were plenty of machines at this laundromat so we didn’t have to wait. After we go everything going, a guy asked me how I liked my truck which was parked right in front of the place. We soon we talking about trucks, hunting, and fishing. He had all kinds of stories about his experiences and it was fun talking to him. After a while, he excused himself as he said it was his job to fold the towels and his wife was folding all of their laundry at one of the tables. Pretty soon we were folding our laundry as well at the same table right next to him. As I was folding a fitted sheet (one of my jobs), he comments that I really knew how to get it folded neatly. I don’t often get complements on my sheet folding and never from another guy! After the laundromat we got the gas can filled and headed for the grocery store to pick up a few items. It was closed by the time we got there so we went to a store that was close by that had been described to us as the same thing as a Super Wal-Mart. We thought this store was a notch or two below any Wal-Mart we had ever been in. We did pick o[ a few things and headed for home. Leslie had put a small roast in the crock pot so dinner was waiting for us when we got there. That’s a good thing as it was getting late and still rainy and cold and just the perfect weather for something like pot roast.
