Robert, Monday, August 25
Today we moved from Telkeetna to Denali Nat’l Park. We got to the Riley Creek Campground in the early afternoon. The campground right inside the park entrance and has no hookups. We got out one of the generators so that we could keep the freezer running. The campground allows generators from 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning and 4:00 to 8:00 in the late afternoon. We have two generators that can each output 2,000 watts. They can be connected so that they synchronize and proved a total of 4,000 watts of power. I just hooked up one of them as that is more than enough to run the freezer and keep the batteries charged. After we got set up, we drove over to the information center to see what we could do on Wednesday. Tomorrow we have a reservation on a tour called the Tundra Wilderness Tour. It is an 8 hour bus trip into the park with the purpose of seeing wildlife. At the information center, they recommended that we take a bus ride on Wednesday that goes further into the park than the tour tomorrow. We bought tickets to go at 10:00 Wednesday morning. From there we drove to the visitor’s center to see that. After that we returned to the trailer, ate dinner and called it a night.
