A Day in Fairbanks

We went to the visitor’s center today. We had a bunch of questions about things to do in Fairbanks. We got a handful of brochures and directions to some of the places we want to visit. In truth, sometimes the GPS does a better job of getting us where we want to go than directions from someone in the visitor’s center. After that we set off for the Pioneer Park. It is a city park where 30 or so old log cabins have been relocated and preserved. Most of the cabins have shops in them selling things like jewelry and T-shirts. There is also an old paddle wheel boat right in the middle of the park. The boat is at least 150 feet long and 40 feet wide. I didn’t ask how they got it in the park. As the nearest water some distance away, it must have been quite a job to move it to the park. After that, we went to the restaurant that is part of the campground. In addition to RV sites, the campground has small cabins and a restaurant. We had looked at the menu and it looked good. The food was turned out to be good and we enjoyed our dinner. The restaurant is right on the river with both indoor and outdoor seating. We waived but decided to sit indoors although it was a beautiful evening. There were people sitting outdoors but as we ate, they kept coming inside as the temperature was dropping from the 60s to the 50s. After that, we came back to the trailer and called it a night.
