Wheels Aligned

Robert, Tuesday, July 29
This afternoon we had an appointment to get the wheels aligned on the trailer. I had noticed that one wheel was wearing on the outside edge. Our appointment was for 1:00 p.m. so we figured we had plenty of time to get to the alignment shop. I told Leslie we should leave early and fix lunch in the trailer when we got to the shop. It’s a good thing we tried to start early because the trailer batteries were almost dead. As they are essential to bring the slides in and to raise and lower the hydraulic jacks, this is a problem. I hooked up a generator and turned the truck around to use the jumper cables. Eventually we got everything closed up and the trailer hooked to the truck. We got to the alignment place about 15 minutes early. As we had fully charged the batteries the night before, this is a problem. The batteries charge whenever we are connected to power. We left the rig and walked to a restaurant for lunch. We called the manufacturer to find somewhere in Anchorage where they provide warranty service for the brand of batteries. The alignment shop first said the aligning the wheels would take one to three hours. The alignment took until after 5:00 and the battery place closed at 5:00 so we drove back to the campground where we stayed last night. This time I hooked up the generators and ran them for three hours. Then we only turned on lights in the trailer when they were absolutely necessary. Tomorrow we will get to the battery shop.
