We got to the big city– Anchorage. Really, it is so much larger than anyplace we’ve been since early May. Anchorage even has a Nordstroms! (I had one small errand there.) It’s nice to visit a city w e’ve been to twice previously so that we know our way around a bit. We looked for and found a favorite bar/restaurant, Humpy’s Old Saloon. We first visited Humpy’s two years ago when we were in Anchorage. On that trip we ate at Humpy’s three times because the fish is good and the prices reasonable. We were glad to find that they are still in business. There has been a lot of commercial development in Anchorage in the past two years.
We got Molly & Cody pre-registered for their visit to a vet boarding facility. They’ll stay in a large, two story, cat condo while we travel to see the bears in Katmai. I’m sure they won’t be pleased with their stay at summer camp, but we did buy them a new bed for the trip.
Sunday was spent doing all the last minute activities necessary before leaving home (groceries, laundry, etc.) We’re ready for our early morning departure to camp in a tent with the grizzly bears. We’ll return late Thursday so don’t expect any postings until Friday.
