We drove around Prince Rupert today. It appears to be an old working town (rather than a tourist town). The industries appear to be ferries that leave from Prince Rupert to Alaska, other ports in BC, and Vancouver and sawmills. We stopped down at the ferry dock to confirm the arrangements for Thursday. We have to be in line with the rig at 5:30 am! Ouch! They will measure the rig, then issue our tickets. The ferry doesn't depart until 8:30 but we will clear US Customs here in Prince Rupert so it takes quite awhile to process everyone.
The weather has turned to typical cool, rainy, Pacific coast weather. It isn't great weather for exploring so we've been trying to catch up on traveling duties. I did see an interesting place to check out tomorrow.
We had planned to eat dinner out and we were challenged to find a place. Choices seemed to be restaurants affiliated with old hotels. We ended up at an Italian place. We both ordered fish (have to start somewhere). Robert had fish and chips that was wonderful. I had the fried halibut cheeks which is something I ususally like. My vote would go with the fish and chips. It was amazingly light and flaky.
more later,
Leslie
